Dan Chen

Managing Director – Head of US Technology, Media and Telecom

Dan Chen brings to China eCapital Partners, LLC (“CEC Capital”) over 19 years of investment banking, private equity and corporate development experience in the technology, media and telecom (TMT) industries, and has been involved in over $5 billion in transactions during his career. Dan currently leads origination and execution of cross-border US – Asia M&A and capital raising mandates for clients in the Internet software and services space; and the telecom, media, and entertainment industries.

Dan was a managing director at Siemer & Associates prior to CEC Capital. He was also a member of the investment team at TPG Capital (TPG Asia), where he was involved on cross-border buyout and venture investments in the U.S. and Asia. Prior to Siemer & Associates, Dan was also Vice President in the media and software groups at Montgomery & Co., where he was involved on a number of large M&A transactions involving strategic acquirers such as Disney and WPP Group. He also led corporate development activities at a family office-backed holding company in Los Angeles focused on investments in the healthcare services and IT space. Dan began his career in 1999 as a technology M&A banker at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York and San Francisco.

In his spare time, Dan enjoys being a part of the mentor team at Mucker Capital, advising tech and media entrepreneurs in the early stage startup ecosystem in Southern California and the Bay Area.

Mr. Chen graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is a registered General Securities Principal (Series 24) and Representative (Series 63 and 79 licenses) with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).

 
Jeremy Taylor

Executive Director – US Healthcare

Leading the firm’s US healthcare efforts, Jeremy Taylor brings twenty years of experience working with life sciences companies, managing M&A, financing and licensing processes, and navigating companies through the capital markets. From 2011 to 2015, Jeremy was a Vice President in the Healthcare Capital Markets group at JMP Securities, where he developed strong relationships with investors in the healthcare space. From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Taylor advised and developed acquisition strategies for biotech and medtech clients at Montgomery & Co. and Montgomery, Marshall Healthcare Partners, LLC. From 2000 to 2004, Mr. Taylor was an investment analyst at Biotechnology Value Fund, L.P, one of the first biotech hedge funds formed in the industry. Mr. Taylor has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology (1996) from Stanford University and returned to Stanford and received his MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (2001). He is a registered General Securities Representative (Series 79 and 63 licenses) with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).

 
Steven Zhou

Vice President – US Healthcare

Prior to joining CEC Capital, Steven was at JMP Securities, where he advised both biopharma and medtech companies on public and private equity, equity-linked, and debt financings as well as M&A transactions. Prior to JMP, Steven spent time at Leerink Partners and in the corporate development group at Santen Inc., a global ophthalmology company. Prior to Santen, Steven was on the merchant banking team at Burrill & Company and he began his career in strategy consulting at Defined Health.

Steven holds an MBA from USC Marshall School of Business and a BS in biological sciences from Cornell University. He is a registered General Securities Representative (Series 7, Series 79, and Series 63 licenses) with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).

 
Tim Wang

Analyst

Tim Wang is an Analyst with China eCapital Partners, LLC (“CEC Capital”) and is based in Palo Alto. He brings several years of experience in cross-border investment banking and venture capital. He was previously with Infinity Venture Partners, where he examined and executed deals in the technology, media, and telecommunications spaces. Tim graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He is a registered General Securities Representative (Series 79 and 63 licenses) with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).
